AUDIO: THE STRANGEST POLITICAL AD YOU WILL EVER HEAR

This is true. A parish president in Louisiana has admitted sending improper texts to a 17-year-old male high school student. What’s more, he did it in a TV commercial. Jefferson County Parish President Mike Yenni admitted in a minute-long commercial last Thursday that he sent “improper texts” to the teenager last year. The married, 40-year-old father said he wouldn’t provide details out of “respect for the rights and privacy” of all parties involved, and regretted his actions. And then he said: “Now, I will work every day to prove that good people can rise from a bad decision. I want to reassure the citizens of Jefferson that I never abused or misused my powers as a public official. And I’m certainly not afraid of the future because I’m smart enough to never repeat the past.” A local TV station, WWLTV, reports that FBI investigators have interviewed at least four people about the messages between Yenni and the teenager, who told the station he met the politician at a bathroom in a mall food court. Yenni gave the teen designer underwear and they kissed briefly. The seven other members of the Jefferson Parish Council are calling for Yenni to resign. * He won’t provide details, other than to say he grabbed the teenager by his BLEEP.
* “I’m Mike Yenni, and I approved this message. Because I’m insane.”
* We are in Bizarro World, everybody. We are beyond Bizarro World.
* Even creepy clowns are going: “What the hell?”
* Come on, look, the guy’s honest. Isn’t that what we say we want in a politician?
* Trump’s advising the guy to stick it out, see what happens. Maybe there’s a cabinet position in it for him.
* I’ve heard of getting out front of a scandal but this is ridiculous.
* Now he’s acting like he did something right.
* I love it when politicians say they will work to regain our trust. Like that’s going to happen.
* He says good people can rise from a bad decision? Okay, but that leaves him out.
