TODAY'S HEROIN STORY: DOG INGESTS BAG OF HEROIN

A golden retriever is one of the latest victims of the heroin trade in Denver, Colorado. Last Tuesday, officers saw a suspected drug dealer. The suspect ran but was soon caught. But, it turned out that while he was running, he tossed his supply of heroin over the fence of the Bark & Play doggy day care. Garrett Bishop, who owns Bark & Play, said, “Luckily, my employees are right on top of it and within 10 seconds of seeing a foreign object on the ground they were on it.” But there were 14 dogs in the yard at the time and despite the quick response by employees, a female golden retriever named Charlie ate one of them. Not one of the employees – one of the bags of heroin. She was taken to the emergency room where vomiting was induced, and she was given drugs to counteract the effects of the heroin. “Charlie” is OK now.
* Maybe the employees of Bark and Play were a little too quick to jump on the bags of heroin, if you know what I mean.
* We hope Charlie’s ok. She was last spotted trying to pawn her water dish and chew toys for some cash.
* It’s hard to help a dog hooked on smack, ’cause you can’t see the needle marks through the fur.
* Ever get the feeling the heroin market is out of control in this country?
* There were 14 dogs in the yard but some didn’t react – they were stoned on pot smoke.
* How would you like to live next to “Bark and Play”? They even encourage barking!
* I think this Garrett guy is trying too hard to protect his business: “Fortunately our employees were all over it because we do such a magnificent job here at Bark and Play.”
