73 ARRESTED AT AMISH RAVER

Authorities in the heart of Ohio’s Amish country arrested more than 70 people in a raid at a weekend party in a field that was expected to attract hundreds of Amish youth. More than 40 officers converged Saturday on the field west of Millersburg after concerned parents notified the Holmes County sheriff’s office of a large party expected to attract over 1,000 Amish from Ohio and neighboring states. Investigators say 73 people, including 35 juveniles, were taken into custody and charged with underage consumption of alcohol. Some also face charges of resisting arrest, and two were taken to a hospital for alcohol-related illness. Said Holmes County Sheriff Tim Zimmerly “Hopefully, this sent a message to the kids that they shouldn’t be drinking unless they’re over 21. We’re not going to tolerate these kinds of parties.”
* Thanks, Sheriff Zimmerly, for vigilantly maintaining the rule of law in the fields of Ohio.
* I hear it was a real barn-raiser.
* This will become an annual festival to be known as “Barning Man.”
* Some of the young men got so crazy, they actually took off their hats.
* Don’t worry, I’m not offending them – they can’t hear me. No radios!
* When the kids were caught in the field, the elders had a field day.
* Remember, Amish kids: if you drink, don’t buggy.
