FLORIDA CONGRESSMAN BRINGS JAR OF MOSQUITOES ONTO HOUSE FLOOR

Florida Republican Representative David Jolly brought a clear jar filled with about 100 Florida-born mosquitoes to the House floor on Wednesday morning. He said the stunt was designed to convey “the fear and the anxiety” of millions of Floridians who are facing locally transmitted outbreaks of Zika, and prod senators to discard “the politics of Zika” and pass a $1.1 billion Zika funding bill. “Can you imagine, colleagues,” Jolly said, waving the jar of mosquitoes, “the fear and anxiety in this chamber if these 100 mosquitoes were outside this jar? This is the fear of Floridians, right here!” “They are not active carriers,” he assured his fellow representatives. “But they could be.”
* Then the SWAT team took him out.
* “They are not active carriers, but they could be. If things don’t go my way.”
* I guess when you’re trying to rustle up over a billion dollars, a little floor show can’t hurt.
* “The politics of Zika”? Don’t tell me those little bastards have their own political party now!
* “The Politics of Zika”? Wasn’t that an 80’s song by Re-Flex?
* Yessir, exactly 100 mosquitos.
* Tomorrow he’s showing off his lizard and hermit crab.
* Nice demonstration. Now when are you going to do something about the problem?
* This is nothing. You should have seen what he brought in to illustrate the python problem.
* Then there was the time he brought in an 8-foot alligator.
* Nice move because that’s exactly what we need right now: More fear and anxiety.
* His name is David Jolly? More like David Buzzkill.
