GUY LOST 300 POUNDS BY WALKING TO WALMART EVERY DAY

An Avondale, Arizona man who was tired of being overweight committed himself to walking to the local Walmart and back every time he wanted a meal. “Pat” Brocco, 31, who once weighed 605 pounds, has lost more than 300 pounds. Brocco began to change his life three years ago when he was warned by his doctor that his weight and his high blood pressure and high cholesterol put his life in serious danger. He decided that every time he was hungry, he would walk the 1 mile to his closest Walmart, then back home to eat his meal. In less than two years, he said, he lost 200 pounds. “You walk to Walmart three times a day, and you end up walking 6 miles,” he said. “It’s amazing because I never walked 6 miles in my life, and I was doing it every day.” Brocco also started eating vegetables, meats, sweet potatoes, quinoa and steel-cut oatmeal. He began lifting weights and using gym equipment he previously could not. Now 330 pounds lighter, Brocco said his nickname is no longer Fat Pat. And because he lost so much weight, he had to have about 30 pounds of excess skin removed. He underwent the surgery on Monday and is now recovering at home.
* Thanks, but I could have done without the excess skin part.
* Flashing back on Mike Myers as a slim Fat Bastard with the skin hanging off him like curtains.
* How bad is it when you lose 300 pounds and you still weigh 305?
* His nickname is no longer “Fat Pat” – it’s now “Not So Fat Pat”.
* And how bad is Walmart’s food?
* Wait, it sounds like someone’s angling for an endorsement deal.
* Sorry but Subway’s spokesperson, Jared, sort of ruined this angle for everybody.
* Careful – if he gets too fit, he might not be allowed to shop at Walmart anymore.
* Somebody explain “steel-cut oatmeal” to me. How does your body know how the oatmeal was cut?
