HIDDEN MONEY IN NEW BRUNSWICK
Someone is hiding money around the town of Miramichi in New Brunswick, Canada. The game began last week with the creation of a Facebook group titled Miramichi Mystery Machine. Clues are posted on the site that lead to $100 and $50 bills that have been hidden all over the town, such as “May 1, 7 P.M. $100 hidden at Ritchie Wharf.” Dozens of residents flocked to the wharf and the money was found within hours. Since then, the creator of the mysterious game has posted a clue a day, and the number of participants has swelled to hundreds. The clues have grown more cryptic, often involving voice-distorted videos or photos of scenes from a horror movie. The creator of the game is giving his name as Roman Dungarvan, though nobody knows anyone by that name. He says the final installment of the game will be held this Friday the 13th, and will have a bigger-than-usual payday. Said one resident, Tim Sutton, “This has been the most exciting week in Miramichi in a long time.”
* It’s the most excitement since they opened Maurie’s Mini-Putt on Water Street. (a real place!)
* It’s nowhere near as much money as the government gave us during Covid, but I guess it’s fun.
* I’ll bet it’s the Miramichi Tourist Board. They’re spending a couple hundred dollars and getting international news coverage.
* The headline on May 14th will be, “Dozens of Home Robbed After Residents Went Searching For Mystery Cash.”
