ASBESTOS FOUND IN MAKEUP AT CLAIRE'S
Teen retailer Claire’s has pulled several makeup products from its shelves after a Rhode Island mom found asbestos in it. Kristie Warner, who works at a law firm handling cases involving contaminated cosmetics, was concerned about the glittery makeup kit she bought for her 6-year-old daughter at the Claire’s in Providence Place Mall. She decided to investigate the ingredients and sent a sample to an independent lab in North Carolina. The lab tests revealed that the kid cosmetics contained asbestos, a highly toxic cancer-causing mineral. Warner bought 17 different Claire’s products from nine states to see if this was a nationwide issue. The lab found tremolite asbestos in every single one of the products. As a result, Claire’s has removed nine products from its shelves as a “precautionary measure” and said it would issue full refunds to concerned customers. Said Warner: “You just assume that a children’s product would be safe.”
* How long has she lived in America?
* Asbestos in makeup? What – to keep your face warm?
* This is how China cleans up its toxic spills – they package it as teen makeup and ship it to the U.S.
* And after you take all that dangerous makeup back to Claire’s, reward yourself by having some pizza at the Food Court.
* The asbestos will now be replaced by fiberglass insulation.
