TEACHER RESIGNS OVER JOKE MESSAGE THAT HE WOULD KILL CHILDREN IF THEY DIDN'T READ SILENTLY
A Commerce City, Colorado, middle school teacher has resigned after projecting a message on a classroom screen that read, in part, “I want to kill children,” school district officials said Monday. Kris Burghart, an eighth-grade teacher at Otho E. Stuart Middle School, had assigned reading to his class, who were being a bit rowdy. He posted the message, “Silent reading … I want to kill children but I am a loving Christian man who never would hurt a flee (* spelled wrong) so please sit down and read.” A student took a picture of it on his phone and ratted him out. Mr. Burghart was a very well-liked teacher, but a spokesman for the school said, “We don’t stand for anyone making threatening remarks.”
* Eighth grade is tough enough without worrying about your teacher killing you.
* So, no credit for saying “please”?
* He should have threatened them with, “Silent Reading or I’ll make you take a shower in gym class.”
* Maybe Super Glue on the seats?
* Remember the Maryland 7-year-old student who was suspended for chewing a Pop Tart into the shape of a gun? This is payback.
* The school has Zero Tolerance – for hyperbole.
