AUDIO: AIR RAGE ON THE RISE IN 2017

The International Air Transport Association says there was a 50 percent rise this year in the number of passengers forcibly restrained for air rage, ranging from verbal abuse to life-threatening situations. While the total number of incidents reported actually fell slightly, the number of abusive incidents rose sharply, with 169 passengers having to be forcibly confined – more than double last year’s figure. More than half of all cases involved passengers smoking on board, either in the main cabin, or more commonly in the bathrooms. Alcohol is regularly involved when it comes to these incidents on planes – a third of all incidents involved intoxicated passengers.
* You folks need to drink ’til you pass out and leave the rest of us alone.
* Just stick the smokers in their own little room on the plane, and have a little window they can open.
* At least we haven’t been having as many stories about passengers peeing in the aisles.
* This is the International Air Transport Association’s way of saying “Enjoy that flight home to see the relatives for Christmas!”
