AUDIO: BANK ROBBER GAVE TV NEWS INTERVIEW BETWEEN ROBBERIES
An alleged serial bank robber appeared in court last Thursday morning. Lawrenceville, Georgia, police not only caught him from bank security cameras, but also from a TV interview he did between robberies. Eric Rivers robbed a Chase Bank. He was on his way to another bank job when he stopped and gave a brief interview with a local CBS news affiliate, who talked with him about rapid transit coming to Gwinnett County. Rivers told the reporter, “Gwinnett County doesn’t really have it’s own transportation. So MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) coming out here will really help out a lot.” He gave his real name. Then he took off and robbed a nearby Fidelity Bank. Lawrenceville police say Rivers hit up five banks and was successful at robbing two.
* At least he’s a concerned citizen.
* “I really hope they run a train line to the financial district.”
* I think he has rapid transit mixed up with a getaway car.
* Maybe they’ll have the commuter lines up and running by the time he gets out.
* Eric Rivers sold himself down the river.
