WOMAN STEALS NUNS' CHEESECAKES
New York State Police have charged a 48-year-old woman with stealing $250 worth of cheesecakes from an order of nuns. The Nuns of New Skete (SKEET) monastery in the town of White Creek are famous for their cheesecakes. The nuns sell their pastries on the honor system at the monastery’s unstaffed gift shop. Police say surveillance cameras caught two women taking merchandise without leaving money in the drop box. An investigation led to the arrest of a woman from North Arlington, Vermont. The other woman was identified as her 21-year-old daughter. The cheesecakes sell for $49 and up.
* When somebody says, “Well, that takes the cake,” this is what they mean.
* A room full of cheesecakes and no one in sight? They should plead entrapment.
* So you become a nun to avoid life’s temptations. And you end up in a monastery that makes cheesecakes. Sign me up!
* Prosecutors ought to throw the Good Book at ’em.
* As punishment, make them eat a cheesecake with no glass of milk.
* Should we really be telling the world that the nuns have an unstaffed gift shop?
* Something tells me the drop box is going to be seeing a big increase in Monopoly money.
