DISNEY CRUISE LINE WORKER EMBEZZLES MONEY, TAKES EXTRAVAGANT DISNEY VACATION

A Disney Cruise Line employee is accused of embezzling about $275,000 from the ship where he worked and then using the money to take his family on a lavish Disney World vacation. Renan Dias Da Rocha Gomes (‘Go-MEZ’) worked at Disney merchandise stores on board the cruise ship Disney Wonder. (* He must have been able to pocket 275 grand in about an hour.) He embezzled the funds on gift cards with the VeriFone payment system, using his identity and another person’s to gain access. Earlier this spring, Gomes took his family on a two-week $35,000 vacation to Disney World with the gift cards, spending $26,400 for food, drinks, merchandise and entertainment as well as $8,700 on lodging.

* The Disney Wonder, as in, “I Wonder where the money went?”
* “Ehh … just keeping the money in the family business, right boss?”
* As an employee he was Grumpy, so stealing made him Happy, but he ended up just being Dopey.
* And kudos to that VeriFone payment system! Workin’ great!
* Well, it’s not like Disney pays their employees enough to actually TAKE a Disney vacation.
