MAN OFFERING FREE HUGS SLAPS WOMAN IN THE FACE

A man who walks around New York City with a sign offering “free hugs” was arrested for slapping a woman in the face. Jermaine Himmelstein is a panhandler who offers free hugs in the hopes that people will throw some money his way. He was offering the hugs in Union Square Saturday when he walked up to a woman with her mother and friends. When they declined his offer of hugs, he smacked the woman in her face and ran off. Himmelstein, 26, was also charged in 2016 with attacking a Canadian tourist who refused to tip him. Prosecutors dropped those charges after he was found to be mentally unfit to stand trial.

* At the least, he needs to change his sign from “free hugs” to “free slugs”.
