WOMAN RUNS MARATHON IN HEELS

A retired professional ballroom dancer in Tennessee set a world record by running an entire marathon in high heels. Irene Sewell managed to complete the 26.2-mile Chatanooga marathon in the high-heeled shoes. She was inspired by a British woman’s quest to become the world’s fastest marathon runner in heels and thought with her dancing background and running background, she should try it. Sewell brought six pairs of 3-inch stilettos ranging from size seven and a half to nine along with band-aids, in-soles and calf sleeves. To top the previous record Sewell was required to complete the race in under seven and a half hours equaling a 17-minute mile pace. She finished with two minutes to spare.
* Thank God she skipped that last bathroom break.
* 26 miles in heels. Or, a below-average day at the office. Ammirite, ladies?
* Her feet should stop cramping sometime around Thanksgiving.
* She won’t be wearing heels again for awhile, ’cause the blisters are the size of oranges.
* Plus, the stilettos were worn down to flats.
* Next up: climbing Mt. Everest in Manolo Blaniks.
