ARRESTED MAN TRIES TO BRIBE COPS WITH DONUTS

Craig Barnes, 25, was arrested last Saturday outside a restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida. Barnes had caused a disturbance, and the restaurant asked him to leave. But he ran back inside because, according to the police report, “he wanted his beer.” He refused to leave and was placed under arrest for trespassing. While in the police car, Barnes told police several times that he would pay both officers $50 to let him go. An officer asked Barnes if he was trying to bribe them and he said yes, and that he would give them $50 and buy them some donuts. He then threatened to kill the officers, and finally upped his bribe offer to $1,000 apiece.
* But he didn’t throw in the donuts that time, and that was his downfall.
* So, the officers turned down the dough.
* Never include a death threat in your negotiating strategy. Unless maybe when you’re buying a car.
* And THAT, my friends, is how you go from simple misdemeanor intoxication to a couple of felonies.
