STARBUCKS' MAPLE PECAN LATTE

Starbucks has created a new drink to partner with their famous Pumpkin Spice Latte. Debuting last Friday, Starbucks launched the Maple Pecan Latte on September 22 to coincide with the first official day of fall. The “sweet and nutty” espresso beverage is made with maple pecan sauce, steamed milk and topped with orange and white sugar crystals for a “fun seasonal aesthetic.” The drink is said to be less sweet than the Pumpkin Spice Latte and smells like pancakes with syrup.
* Big deal. So does my grampa.
* Actually, it smells like a new profit center.
* I’ll tell you what’s “sweet and nutty” – drinking 56 grams of sugar and 13 grams of fat. (Yes, that’s what’s in a Vendi Pumpkin Spice Latte.)
* You know what’s NOT a “fun seasonal aesthetic”? The five pounds I’ve gained since getting hooked on Starbucks.
* Never let a Canadian near your test kitchen, kids.
