ATM COURIERS LEAVE CASH VAN RUNNING IN PARKING LOT
Two ATM couriers were making a cash drop at the Citizens Trust Bank in Decatur, Georgia, on September 8. The couriers pulled into the bank parking lot and went inside with an unspecified amount of money. When they came out, the van was gone. All that was left was broken glass, from a window. The driver had locked the vehicle doors but left the keys in the ignition and the vehicle running. The van was found unoccupied later that same day. More than $1.8 million was stolen.
* Remember “Ocean’s 11”? This was the plot of Ocean’s 10.
* Make that “two former ATM couriers”.
* That’s like when you drive home from the store and you forget you left a bag of groceries on the roof. Well, maybe not exactly like that.
* An armored car sitting with the keys in the ignition. That would make a compelling episode of “What Would You Do?”
* Maybe it’s time to go over those cash courier protocols again. #1: DON’T leave the money.
* Citizens Trust Bank just learned they can’t bank on trusting citizens.
