WOMAN DIES, IMPALED BY BEACH UMBRELLA

A woman celebrating her 55th birthday at Virginia Beach, Virginia, died Wednesday after she was impaled by a windblown beach umbrella. The umbrella was anchored in the sand when a strong gust of wind carried it, hitting 55-year-old Lottie Belk. She was impaled in the torso by the pointy end of the umbrella’s pole, the part that you stick into the sand. Medics were called, and Belf was taken to a hospital, where she died.
* I hate those birthday surprises.
* You’ve got to anticipate stuff like this.
* They were going to do this in one of those “Final Destination” movies, but they figured nobody would believe it could happen.
* Her last birthday was no day at the beach. Let me rephrase that.
* The worst part? She was staying on the sand because she was afraid of sharks.
* How’d you like to be the lazy guy who couldn’t be bothered to push the umbrella farther into the sand?
* “Okay, whose umbrella is this?” “Quiet, kids! Nobody say anything!”
* I’ve never seen a fun wacky news story with the word “impaled” in it.
* Maybe a porno film, but not the news.
