TRAPPED UNDER ATV, ATTACKED BY RABID FOX
In Watkinsville, Georgia, last Wednesday, Mike Streetman had been out in the hayfield riding his ATV 4-wheeler. As he drove to a barn to cool off, a fox came up and tried to bite him. Streetman gunned the four-wheeler to get away, but turned too sharply and the vehicle turned over on him, pinning him down on his back. The fox came over and started attacking him. Streetman reached for a hammer that fell out of the tool box and hit the fox, until it latched onto his arm. Streetman grabbed it in a choke hold with one hand, and called 911 and his wife with the other. And then the fire ants came. (* Just kidding!) His wife and a neighbor managed to get the 4-wheeler off Streetman, and got a rope around the neck of the fox as first responders arrived. Deputies killed the fox and took it for rabies testing. Meanwhile, Streetman has begun a round of rabies shots.
* So, a pretty normal Wednesday in Watkinsville, Georgia.
* A fox tries to take on a human on an ATV? Yeah, there might be just a smidgen of rabies involved.
* ATV must stand for Animal Terrorization Vehicle.
* The fox got hammered, and when Mike got back home, I’ll bet he got hammered, too.
* Can he at least get a couple bucks for the fur?
PHONE TOPIC: It was bad, but then it got worse.
