THE NYC CHOCOLATE MUSEUM

Manhattan is getting its first chocolate museum. The permanent site is headed by Jacques Torres, one of New York’s most beloved chocolatiers. It will be called Choco-Story New York, The Chocolate Museum and Experience with Jacques Torres. There will be a press preview this week with an official opening to follow soon. Beyond that, not much is known about the exhibits.
* Who cares? They’re chocolate!
* In your face, Switzerland!
* And look for the Cockroach Museum, opening next door just as soon as the Chocolate museum opens.
* Please don’t eat the exhibits.
* Early candies on display:
– The very first M&M, back when it was just an M.
– A One Musketeer bar.
– A 5 Grand bar.
– Mr. Okaybar (later improved to Mr. Goodbar).
– Thingamajig (later renamed Whatchamacallit).
– Twik (later doubled to make a pair of Twix).
* This is where you want the exhibits to be interactive.
* I bet it smells a lot better than that turd museum they have on the Isle of Wight.
* I think I’m just going to come out and say it: These gourmet chocolates with cayenne pepper etc., are a big waste of time and chocolate.
* Imagine the reaction in classrooms: “We’re going to the museum today.” (crickets.) “It’s the chocolate museum.” (Cheers.)
* Finally, a gift shop that you want to visit.
