SLURPEE TURNS 50

The 7-Eleven Slurpee celebrates its 50th birthday today (July 11). Convenience store customers can enjoy a free small Slurpee drink of any flavor at participating stores from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
– Also, the limited-edition Birthday Cake Slurpee is available at participating stores now until supplies last. The chain describes it as “the perfect combination of traditional birthday cake and vanilla ice cream flavor – a delicious frozen celebration for your taste buds.”
– Participating stores will also offer new limited-time Slurpee products and snacks, like Slurpee cotton candy, Slurpee-flavored ChapStick, and birthday doughnuts.
– The celebration continues with Slurpee Week, July 12 through 18, where customers who purchase seven Slurpee drinks during the week using the 7-Eleven mobile app will receive credits for 11 free Slurpee drinks.
* The Slurpee birthday coincides with International Brain Freeze Day.
* Celebrations will also be held at the major sugar companies.
* Producers of diabetes medicines are also kind of happy.
* Celebrate with a 7-Eleven hot dog. Many of them are also turning 50 today.
* Yet the invention of the spoon-straw goes virtually unnoticed.
* Today also marks 50 years since some of those Slurpee machines have been cleaned.
* How did humanity manage to make it this far without Slurpee-flavored ChapStick?
* Have they considered ChapStick-flavored Slurpees?
* The trouble with the Birthday Cake Slurpee is the candles keep sinking into it.
* What? No Slurpee flavored with Kale?
* That’s quite a record: 50 years of offering zero in nutritional value.
* Don’t get your hopes up for a free Slurpee. The key phrase is “at participating stores.”
