MOM WRESTLES COUGAR OFF OF 7-YEAR-OLD SON

In Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island, Chelsea Bromley heard a ruckus in her yard where her 7-year-old son Zack had gone to play Friday afternoon. She was shocked to see a young mountain lion had pinned the boy to the ground with its jaws clamped on his arm. She jumped on top of it to try to pry the cougar’s jaws open. After it wouldn’t let go, she screamed ‘help’ and it ran off. Zack was airlifted to a hospital, where he received stitches for bite wounds on his arms and head. At the time, Zach’s sister spotted a second cougar nearby. B.C. conservation officers responded and said they tracked and killed the two cougars, which they described as juvenile and “quite thin,” suggesting they were starving.
* Not any more.
* Momma Bear fought off a cougar.
* Never feed your kid tuna fish and then set him out in the yard. It attracts the wildlife.
* Gonna be an extra special Mother’s Day at the Bromley household this year.
