MEN TAKE DEAD FRIEND TO POST OFFICE TO GET HIS PENSION
In Ireland last Friday, two men reportedly brought a third man, who was dead, to a post office with hopes of collecting the dead man’s pension payment. It happened at the post office in the village of Carlow. The two men apparently tried to “prop him up” to pass the dead man off as alive. They were said to be acquaintances of the elderly man. The plan didn’t work. Staff at the post office immediately became suspicious and contacted emergency services.
* Yeah, we’re past the “emergency” part. That would have been a couple days ago.
* If Ireland post offices are anything like American post offices, I bet he was alive when he got into line.
* They might have had better luck at the dead letter office.
* Wasn’t this a movie? “Weekend at O’Shaughnessy’s”?
* You could do this in America – take dead grampa to the post office as proof he’s deceased – and they’d STILL keep sending him Pottery Barn catalogues.
