MAN STEALS $1600 DOG, TRADES IT FOR CRACK

Authorities in Largo, Florida, are searching for a $1,600 Yorkshire terrier that they say a man stole from a pet store and traded for crack cocaine. Video surveillance at the store All About Puppies shows a man placing the dog down his shirt and leaving. A tip led detectives to 38-year-old Wayne Junior Barfield, who was arrested Friday and charged with grand theft. Barfield said he traded the dog for crack and cash. It’s not clear where the dog is now – Barfield wouldn’t tell whom he traded it to. The Yorkie is microchipped, and veterinarians will be alerted to the dog’s status.
* Preliminary signals indicate the puppy is happy and licking himself.
* Sadly, the puppy has already gone down in value since leaving the showroom.
* Great – your first experience with a human master, and he’s a loser.
* Wacky news experts will notice this is the second story from Largo, Florida this month.
* The last one had a guy attacking his mother after her dog ate his pot – and yes, I’m worried that I still remember that.
* So the obvious question is, “Is this the same dog here?”
* Wayne admitted he traded the dog for crack and cash? I’m not saying that was stupid, but he could use a microchip with some brains in it.
* We know he wasn’t on bath salts. Otherwise he would have eaten the dog.
