LITTLE LEAGUE PUTS UP SIGN FOR PARENTS
The Glendale, Wisconsin, Little League program has put up a sign at the ball field reminding parents what’s important. Glendale Little League President John Diedrich said the sign was installed because some Little League parents seemed to need the reminder. “Let’s just take it less seriously,” he says, “We’re here for the kids.” The sign reads:
1. These are KIDS.
2. This is a GAME.
3. Coaches are VOLUNTEERS.
4. Umpires are HUMAN.
5. Your child is NOT being scouted by the Brewers today.
* 6. We’re talking to YOU, Mr. Kyle Radcliff of Midland Street, father of Kyle Jr.
* It’s kind of hard to argue with any of those statements.
* But I bet you’d find some Toronto scouts in the bleachers.
* Parents responded with a sign that says “All caps is RUDE.”
* 7. You had your own chance at Little League glory so stop trying to live through your children.
* Smart move. Parents love to be scolded.
* At last check an irate parent was hitting another one over the head with the new sign.
* What a wimpy message. Don’t expect any big leaguers out of this town.
