CITY RETURNS ICE CREAM TO PUBLIC POOLS
Boulder, Colorado, officials have lifted a ban on ice cream at city pool snack bars. Earlier this summer, Boulder’s district services manager, Alison Rhodes, had said taking the ice cream away was in support of “promoting the community’s health.” After many citizen complaints, ice cream was reintroduced to city pools this week. Visitors can now purchase a “Chocolate Scooter” or an ice cream sandwich. The two options were selected during a July taste test administered by the Parks and Recreation Department.
* So the kale pops didn’t go over so well, eh Boulder?
* Nice turn around a week before school starts.
* District services manager Alison Rhodes will now return to her other occupation, kicking puppies.
* Wow. I don’t think I could eat an entire scooter made of chocolate.
* I could probably eat maybe one of the wheels.
* Promoting the community’s health? Why would we want to start on that?
* How about promoting a little fun?
* Now the Commission to Stamp Out Brain Freeze wants to do another study.
* Look, humans have been eating ice cream in the summertime for thousands of years.
* Okay, maybe not. But you don’t think the Neanderthals would have enjoyed an ice cream cone now and then?
