AUDIO: BANK ROBBED DURING LIVE TV SHOT
A TV news reporter was doing a live shot Tuesday at Sterling State Bank in Rochester, Minnesota, when it was robbed. The bank had also been robbed on Monday, and reporter Adam Sallet was updating Monday’s robbery on the noon news when an employee ran from the bank and pointed to a man walking away and said, “That’s the robber. That’s him right there.” Sallet said, “This is live TV, folks. I have to go. I have to call 911.” Officers were able to follow tracks in the snow that led to the parking lot of a nearby Comfort Inn. The suspect was soon arrested without incident.
* In his defense, the robber said he robbed the bank twice because there just wasn’t that much to do in Minnesota.
* They followed tracks in the snow? I’m starting to think this whole “crimefighting” thing isn’t all that hard.
* If this was an episode of “Chicago P.D.” it would last about three minutes.
* I would have liked to have seen the bank employee start throwing snowballs at the guy.
* Sounds like a nice little town they’ve got going there.
* Well, they wanted an update on the robber and they got one.
* In fact, there he goes now.
* How come our local newscasts aren’t this exciting?
* “This is live TV, folks. I have to go”? No, this is live TV and you have to stay with the shot. This is your ticket out of Rochester to the Big Time.
* Just walk behind the guy with the camera running. It would be like the O.J. Bronco chase, only slower.
