AUDIO: EAGLE MAULS CAT ON LIVESTREAM

In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, there is a livestream of an adult bald eagle with two young babies. Awww….. except that, late Tuesday, the eagle brought back to its nest someone’s cat, which was then fed to the eaglets. Some viewers watching the stream were disturbed by what they saw on the video. Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania spokeswoman Rachel Handel told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the feeding behavior was perfectly normal. “While many may cringe at this, the eagles bring squirrels, rabbits, fish (and other animals) into the nest to eat multiple times each day. To people, the cat represents a pet, but to the eagles and to other raptors, the cat is a way to sustain the eaglets and help them to grow.”
* Oh, just say the word – “food.”
* “A way to sustain the eaglets and help them to grow.” Yes, by tearing it into mouth-size bits and swallowing them.
* What people found most disturbing was that the cat apparently did not have eight more lives left.
* Great. First they feed the zebra to the lions at the zoo last week, and now this.
* If only the eagle could have caught – I don’t know … a pit bull?
* How about a pit bull that had just mauled a kitten?
* Let’s call eagles what they really are: Nature’s drones.
* If this isn’t wild enough, I read that golden eagles swoop down at 200 miles an hour.
* What did you think baby eagles ate? Tofu?
* Hey, there are a lot of sites on the internet with disturbing things on them. And that’s with humans.
