ANTONIN SCALIA SCHOOL OF LAW
George Mason University discovered a problem with the name of its law school, named in honor of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Last week, the Virginia-based institution announced the new name: “The Antonin Scalia School of Law at George Mason University.” But social media soon discovered Scalia’s initials turned the name into the acronym A-S-S-law, or #ASSLaw. To get around the problem, the school changed the name to The Antonin Scalia Law School.
* Who was the asshat who thought up ASSLaw?
* It gets worse. The entire name “Antonin Scalia School of Law” reduces to “ASSoL”.
* They’re lawyers. Wouldn’t you think they’d vet the name?
* Scalia’s the one who said torture wasn’t cruel and unusual punishment because you weren’t trying to punish the detainee – you were merely trying to torture him.
* God, I wish I could come up with comedy that great.
* No wonder he was such buddies with Dick Cheney.
* Personally, I’ve always thought “Scalia” sounded like a skin condition.
