WOMAN DESTROYS TWO CARS, WHILE SOBER
A woman backed her car into a pond at the Aspen Meadows resort in Aspen, Colorado, early Monday morning. She then stole a hotel shuttle, which she crashed into a wall. Elizabeth Bergquist, 24, turned herself in on Wednesday. She told police she’d gotten off work in Aspen at midnight Monday and driven to the Meadows to meet friends. However, she got lost and ended up in the pond after trying to back out of a dead end area. Wet from the pond, she got into the unlocked shuttle van. The keys were inside, and she didn’t want anyone seeing her sitting in the van, so she tried moving it, hitting a wall while driving down a walking path. After warming up, Bergquist walked to a bus stop and caught a bus home to Glenwood Springs. Although police found marijuana and a prescription bottle in the submerged car, Bergquist said that she had been sober during the entire incident. Police also discovered Bergquist’s license had been revoked because of a DUI arrest in June 2016.
* Oh, you were sober? In that case, ma’am, you’re free to go.
* I bet she’s lying about the sober part. Call it a hunch.
* Great gift idea for Elizabeth: Night-vision goggles.
* And maybe driving lessons.
* If only there was some sort of wireless device that could tell you the directions to someplace while you’re driving.
