AUDIO: LUXURY HOTEL ROOMS BY THE HOUR

An app called Recharge promises guests the ability to rent luxury hotel rooms, not by the night, but by the hour. According to the company: “No time to stop home? Grab a Recharge and have access to all the amenities a luxury hotel has to offer. It’s like home, but with room service.” The app launched in 2015 in San Francisco, but just expanded into 16 New York City hotels. Prices start at $0.83 and go up to $2 per minute (plus an 14.75 percent lodging tax). Somebody looking for a 20 minute power nap will pay between $20 and $46, while those hoping for a 60-minute shower and some upscale time to refresh will pay between $57 and $128. According to Recharge, an average stay lasts about 2 hours.
* And I think we all know what’s happening in THAT room.
* Who takes a 60-minute shower? Aquaman?
* “No time to stop home”? Yeah, especially if you’re having an affair.
* This is also great news for the area’s prostitutes.
* I think the hotels must have given in to the powerful Pimp Lobby.
* “In today’s hurry-up world, who has time to wait to see how much they’re being ripped off? Now, there’s Recharge!”
* You know who’s hating it? Housekeeping. (see clip below)
* The room attendants now have the pleasure of cleaning the room up to 10 times a day.
