THE PURPLE STORE

The Purple Store started out as a website more than a decade ago (thepurplestore.com). Everything they sold was purple. The site turned out to be a hit, so founder Adam Sheridan opened a storefront in Seattle, Washington. “People who like purple really like purple,” Sheridan says. He has more than 750 items on display – luggage, lingerie, appliances, shoes, stuffed animals, furniture, office supplies, wigs … every item is purple.
* If you can’t find anything you like, they’ll send you home with a complimentary bruise.
* If you try to rob the place, they hold you down and give you a purple nurple.
* Want to work there? It’s a plum job.
* This was actually Adam’s third try at a niche store, after The Brown Store and The Plaid Store.
* This better not be like that Just For Feet store, where you walk in and the first thing you see is a rack of T-shirts.
* Too bad they lost their main customer: Prince.
* Just for fun walk in and say, “I really like this product, but do you have it in another color?”
* I think I have a brainstorm for a new craze: Pet rocks but only purple pet rocks.
* So what was the dumbest consumer product this year? I mean besides the stuff from this store?
* Okay, here’s some businesses in the Seattle area. Which one doesn’t belong with the others? Microsoft, Boeing, and the Purple Store.
