GILLETTE TO RIP PEOPLE OFF A LITTLE BIT LESS

One of life’s biggest rip-offs is about to change, at least a little. The Wall Street Journal reports that Gillette razors will soon slash prices by up to 20%. For years, the company has focused on figuring out new ways to charge more for its products, like adding more and more blades. Gillette reportedly held a 70% market share in 2010. But trends began turning around, and growing beards became hip and competitors like Dollar Shave Club disrupted the scene. By 2016, Gillette’s share of the men’s razor business was down to 54%. Gillette is now making its razor prices more reasonable. For example, a four-pack of its Fusion cartridges, which feature five blades, will retail for about $15, down from $19.50. For the sake of comparison, Dollar Shave Club charges $1 for the first month, plus $6 monthly thereafter, for a four-blade razor system and four new cartridges shipped every month.
* Fusion razors have five blades? Who are they for – Superman?
* Sounds like you could use one to carve a log into one of those wooden bears.
* I didn’t know Gillete was owned by the same douchebag who makes the EpiPens.
* Good. If Gillete wants to price gouge like this it should go into the medical business.
* Or make weapons for the Pentagon.
* Gillette is such a ripoff, they make Dollar Shave Club charging SIX dollars seem okay.
* I just wish we could get those bastards who sell ink cartridges for your printer.
* I read that the ink in one of those works out to be more expensive than the finest champagne.
* So ironically, the only thing Gillete has been shaving lately is a little off the price.
