30,000 POUNDS OF CAT LITTER SPILL

Early Tuesday morning in Reading, Pennsylvania, a tractor-trailer spilled its load of more than 30,000 pounds of cat litter on the highway when it failed to manage a curve and overturned. The northbound lanes of Route 222 were closed for five hours while crews tried to clean up the ruptured bags of rain-moistened litter. The litter was on its way to a retail store. A front-end loader was brought in to scoop up the litter.
* Usually, cat litter takes rear-end loads.
* Catastrophe.
* They took it all away in about a million of those bags that your newspaper comes in.
* From cat litter to just litter.
* The weird part? The trucker could have probably made the turn if there had been gravel on the road.
* 30,000 pounds of cat litter. Or as my cat calls it, about a week’s worth.
* There is now a new roadside attraction in Reading, Pennsylvania: World’s Biggest Clump.
* The truck “failed to manage a curve”? That’s putting it politely.
* How about, “He was going too fast.”
* Actually, the curve was fine. He just failed to manage the truck.
* So are you telling me the people were stuck in their cars for 5 hours just sitting there? And that’s with family so it could feel like 10 hours.
