Mark Gremaud and Kathy Carron are members of the Perry County School Board in Perryville, Missouri. At a recent closed executive meeting to discuss board procedures and board behaviors, Mr. Gremaud is alleged to have said to Ms. Carron: “Kathy, you are just a woman. The only thing you know is laying on your back with your legs in the air splayed.” Gremaud later denied he said it or addressed Ms. Carron by name. Which doesn’t match up with the accounts of two other male board members who rushed to Gremaud’s defense. Board members Jeff Weibrecht and Kevin Bachmann on Tuesday said the remark was made during “heated debate,” and that Gremaud apologized and tried to explain it wasn’t meant to be sexual in nature. The board voted to censure Gremaud, then to request his resignation. Gremaud has declined to comment or to say whether he’ll resign.
