BILLY JOEL MOVIE WITHOUT BILLY JOEL MUSIC

They’re making a Billy Joel biopic, without the approval of Billie Joel. It’s called – of course, “Piano Man.” The film will follow Joel’s early years and will be told…FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF HIS FIRST MANAGER. Irwin Mazur discovered the singer when Joel was 16. Mazur managed Joel from 1965 to 1972, the year before the breakthrough Piano Man album was released. The movie will spotlight Joel’s time playing in a Long Island cover band in the ’60s, along with a breakout performance in 1972 that captured the attention of music bigwig Clive Davis…ALL BEFORE THE PIANO MAN ALBUM. According to Variety, Joel is not involved with the film project, and no rights will be granted to use his music, name, likeness or life story.
* What’ll they call him? Jilly Boel?
* Why can’t they just be honest and call it The Irwin Mazur Story? I’m sure people would go see that.
* I guess if they change a couple of words… ♪♪ “Sing me a song / You’re the Keyboard Guy…” ♫
* This is like doing a movie about Captain Sully and landing the plane on the Hudson River, but it ends when Captain Sully signs up for flight school.
