A new survey by DealNews found that people with children are less inclined to buy gifts for their parents on Mother’s Day. According to their survey of a whopping 650 DealNews readers:
– 44 percent of parents will buy their mom a gift this Mother’s Day, as opposed to 56 percent of consumers who don’t have kids.
– Come Father’s Day, only 28 percent of people with children will buy a gift for their dad, compared with 39 percent of consumers without kids.
Benjamin Glaser, features editor with DealNews, reasons that when you have kids of your own, your attention shifts from your parents to them. And practically speaking, “there may not be enough time, money, or focus to get a gift and/or plan a Mother’s Day celebration for both the mother of your child, and your own mother.”
* Also, you just might be a bad, bad person.
* Mother’s Day isn’t always all about YOU, Mom.
* I keep trying to send my mom nice presents but, you know, the prison has all these security procedures and junk.
* Just another survey designed to stir up trouble.
* Now when your mother guilt trips you, she’ll back it up with statistics.
* Oh, buy a gift. Look, with all these single parent homes, your parents are already 50% off.
* There may not be enough time, money or focus? Well, I can’t argue with that part.
* And no, people: An email does not count as a Mother’s Day card.
